Introduction to L.A.S.E.R. Therapy at Onion River Chiropractic

We are pleased to inform you that we now provide two forms of L.A.S.E.R. therapy here at Onion River Chiropractic! Low level cold laser therapy via Multi Radiance Technology, utilizing the advanced MR4 machine; a painless, non-invasive, non-heat producing treatment which is able to deeply penetrate muscular and joint areas to effectively reduced inflammation, increase blood flow, increase nerve function, and thereby reduce pain and dysfunction. We are now also offering the Berman Medical High Intensity Class 4 Laser, which delivers the same benefits as the MR4, but at a higher intensity resulting in shorter treatment times.

What is L.A.S.E.R. Therapy?

L.A.S.E.R. (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) Therapy, otherwise known as “photobiomodulation” is the use of specific wavelengths of light to create therapeutic effects within the body. These effects include, but are not limited to, improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation, decreased swelling, and vasodilation.

How does L.A.S.E.R. therapy work?

Laser therapy works primarily at the intracellular level by penetrating the skin and cells with photons (light energy). These cells convert the light energy into chemical energy which then increases cellular activity. This increased cellular activity allows for increased production of ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) which then stimulates an increase in cellular metabolism in damaged cells and tissues. The result of this is the following biological effects:

Which L.A.S.E.R. is Right for Me?

  • Berman Class 4 laser operates at a higher continuous wattage providing deeper penetration into the tissues, resulting in a quicker overall treatment time.
  • MR4 LaserStim Class 3b super pulse laser is one of the most well-studied laser treatments covered under some insurance plans that works by combining the treatment of photomodulation with muscle stimulation to provide therapeutic benefit. However, due to the nature of the light delivery system by pulsed waves, the treatment may take longer. The out-of-pocket cost (if not billable to insurance) for MR4 LaserStim treatment is $30/session.
  • Berman Class 4 laser is NOT covered under most insurance plans; therefore, treatment will be paid out-of-pocket at a price of $50 per treatment. We do offer a package deal consisting of 4 total treatments valued at $200 for the price of $160 ($40 per treatment).
